COMMENT:

The government jeepney modernization plan seems like a positive step towards development and modernization. However, the reality is far more complicated. Many Filipinos rely on jeepneys as a source of livelihood not just as a mode of transportation. Numerous jeepney drivers, mechanics, and other workers are still living in poverty and they rely on the jeepney industry for their income. The jeepney phaseout plan may potentially turn these people unemployed, this would cause a bad effect on our economy. Additionally, this could be a hindrance for everyone's development.

Singapore's Prime Minister has recovered from COVID-19

News  Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong tested negative for COVID-19 and has now recovered seven days after testing positive for COVID-19 for the first time.  On May 22, Mr. Lee tested positive for COVID-19 following state visits to South Africa and Kenya.  And on Sunday,  Mr. Lee posted on Facebook that he is now COVID-19 negative and will return to work on Monday.  "I am now COVID-19 negative and will be back to work on Monday. Thanks to everyone who sent your good wishes! he wrote.  In his first official visit to AfricaPrime Minister Lee met South African President Cyril Ramaphosa in Cape Town, and the two had their lunch together as official guests. The year-to-date global surface temperature (January-March) was the fourth highest on record and according to the National Centers for Environmental Information's (NCEI's) Global Annual Temperature Outlook, 2023 is almost certain (>99.0%) to be one of the ten warmest years on record, with a 96% chance of being one of the top five.
