Netizens Reaction to Jeepney Phase Out #notojeepneyphaseout

    Manila Philippines: Many netizens express their opinions and sympathize with our jeepney drivers and operators amid the Public Utility Vehicle (PUV) modernization program of the government. 

     The #notojeepneyphaseout was circulating around the internet, netizens used this to show their support to our jeepney drivers who may lose their jobs due to said program. Most of the netizens were against the idea of ​​this PUV modernization program; they said it would be better if this program would not be implemented in the first place. One netizen pointed out that 'Our jeepney has not been in service for the community, it has been a part of our culture ever since' twitter user @Ray_tyt said. Additionally, netizens think that the government plan was not well thought out knowing that many jeepney drivers will be affected by the program and would leave them without livelihood. 


In regards to this issue netizens created a meme about their experiences in using jeepney as a mode of transportation every day, finding humor from this situation. 


    Meanwhile, last March 6, 2023 the nationwide transport strike was organized by transport groups participated by many jeepney drivers and operators as an act of protest to the government PUV modernization program.

Singapore's Prime Minister has recovered from COVID-19

News  Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong tested negative for COVID-19 and has now recovered seven days after testing positive for COVID-19 for the first time.  On May 22, Mr. Lee tested positive for COVID-19 following state visits to South Africa and Kenya.  And on Sunday,  Mr. Lee posted on Facebook that he is now COVID-19 negative and will return to work on Monday.  "I am now COVID-19 negative and will be back to work on Monday.
