Super typhoon “Betty” slightly weakens

Super typhoon “Betty” slightly weakens and continues to move on the west northwest ward within Philippine Area of Responsibility according to weather updates of PAG ASA, today.

As of 5:00 pm issued weather update today of PAG ASA the center of the of typhoon “Betty” (International Name “Mawar”) it was at 630 km East of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan with 165 km/h sustained winds, gustiness up to 205 km/h in the center and with central pressure of 940 hPa. Tropical cyclone wind signal no. 1 is currently in effect to some provinces  such as Batanes, Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, Isabela, Apayao, Ilocos Norte, the northern and central portions of Abra, Kalinga, the eastern and central portions of Mountain Province, the eastern and central portion of Aurora, Quirino and the northeastern portion of Nueva Vizcaya with range of wind speed of 39 to 61 km/h. On the other hand, marine gale warning is still in effect in the northern and eastern seaboard of Northern Luzon, eastern seaboard of Central and Southern Luzon and at the eastern seaboard of Visayas and Mindanao. People in the identified areas are highly advised to adhere to local officials instructions and always keep safe as heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and winds are expected. 

Meanwhile, in accordance to PAG ASA heavy rainfall outlook the typhoon effect may begin on Monday (May, 29 2023) following this news as super typhoon Betty made landfall in the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Saturday, May,27 several airline companies like Philippines Airlines started postponing flights such as flights from Basco-Manila, Laoag-Manila and Baguio-Cebu effective until Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday this week.
