“Lahat naman ata nagsisimula sa bottom, kailangan mo lang talaga i-improve sarili mo”

A quote said by Ms. Arianne Jane Blaza a third year BS Midwifery student from Camarines Sur Polytechnic  Colleges who gave an honor to the whole school after she successfully passed and pulled off the 2023 Midwifery Licensure Examination with a rating of 89.65 percent, placing her in rank number two in overall examinees who passed the exam along with her.

In our interview with Ms. Blaza last tuesday, she shared the emotion she felt after knowing the result,

“Ako talaga never akong nag-aim na mag-top, as in ayokong i-pressure sarili ko noong nagrereview ako. Sabi ko kung ano lang kaya, yun na yun! kaya noong lumabas na talaga ang result hindi rin ako makapaniwala, as in! nanginginig kamay ko tapos syempre si mama doon ako pinaka na-proud sa sarili ko, kasi umiyak si mama” she said. According to her when she was in the review center, she first failed to pass every examination they took for review, but when it’s time for final coaching with her determination the result came good consecutively and she passed the final exam in the review center.

Ms. Blaza also shared during the interview the inspiration behind of all her hard work in studying, she said, “Pinaka-inspiration ko lang naman kasi non’ ang family ko, kasi hindi biro yung gastos namin dito”.

Aside from the stress and anxiety that students suffered throughout the preparation for examination, financial struggle is also a headache. Apparently according to her 25, 000 pesos was the total cost of expenses for four months in the review center of each student and before they completed all the requirements they needed, students must first pay all their unpaid balances in school which cost a maximum of 40, 000 pesos overall expenses. Meanwhile, according to her enable to help students and lessen their stresses Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges gave them one month with no need to attend in school, no activities and projects.A free time in order for them to focus in their review, which helped a lot of students to passed the exam and Ms. Blaza expressed her deepest gratitude for this help made by her school.

When we asked her if this course was really her dream since then, she answered no and added that it was not really a part of her original plan and either her family never expected since they all thought she will go for an education course. Ms. Blaza then shared the reason why she took BS Midwifery.

“Curiosity, pinag-try ko lang (itong course) tapos hanggang sa nagustuhan ko, hindi ko pala alam na para dito talaga ako, dito pala talaga ako mag tri-thrive (at) plan pala ni God na dito ako.”

And for the question, asking her if she already see herself in the future working in that profession, she replied “Sabi ko nga hindi plano, hindi ko inisip na midwife talaga, nangyari na lang. So, ayun since andito na ako ito na, ito na talaga ang profession para sa akin. Tsaka ako sa dami ng na-experience ko na magpa-anak natutunan ko na namahalin ang course na ito.”

Along with this huge success it’s also reported that 37 newly registered midwives are from Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges, another achievement unlocked by these excellent students.
