In Sitio Banasi, Oshao Bacon district of Sorsogon City, wildfires started near the cliffs along the road around 2 am due to extreme heat on May 22, 203.

According to Sorsogon Municipality DRRMO, they received a report about the incident from Barangay tanod of Barangay. Right after this incident was reported, the Sorsogon City Disaster Management Office (DRRMO Bacon Satellite Office) and his BFP, and Bacon officials in the area responded immediately but due to the size of the forest fire, it took time for emergency services to extinguish the fire. It was 2:00 pm in the afternoon when the wildfire was brought under control and declared extinguished. Authorities have repeatedly warned residents to be careful, even if no one was hurt in the Sorsogon bushfires.

Earlier this month May Sorsogon City government issued the issuance of Presidential Decree No. 30 in 2023, for which the city government established an inter-agency task force to lead the city's response to the adverse effects of Niño and La Niña, including securing livelihoods. Agriculture, health, and infrastructure. The task force will work not only on the impacts of the current disaster but also on plans to prevent potentially severe climate change impacts on the city.
