4.6 magnitude earthquake in Burgos, Surigao Del Norte

According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), a magnitude 4.6 earthquake was registered in Burgos, Surigao Del Norte, at 10:37 p.m. on Saturday, May 13.

Tectonic is the origin of shaking occurring in the ocean covered by Surigao Del Norte. It was spotted on the northeast side of Surigao Del Norte with a depth of 20 km. Intensities were also reported in its neighboring cities such as intensity II in Borongan City and Eastern Samar and intensity I in Cabadbaran City, Agusan del Norte, Quinapondan, Baybay, Mahaplag, Abuyog, Dulag, Leyte, San Juan, Saint Bernard, and Southern Leyte. No expected aftershocks of the earthquake were reported. Last May 9 at 3:11 am a minor magnitude 1.5 earthquake was also reported at the Northern East of Burgos Surigao del Norte with a depth of 35.0km fortunately magnitude 1.5 of an earthquake wouldn't normally be felt by people but could be recorded instrumentally.
