LRT Fare Increase

LRT fare increases for the use and purpose to improve LRT services were deferred by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Monday, April 10. 

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) approved fare increases for train Lines Rail Transit (LRT) 1 and 2, in accordance with the orders of President Marcos. Additionally, MRT-3 fare adjustment was also deferred by the President. Fare increases of these 3 public transportation was to be use for improving technical capabilities, services and facilities with an aims to give new comfortable space of transportation for the commuters, but the date of implementation is still haven’t released yet by DOTr and according to Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista, he said on Tuesday that it will take a few months before it will officially implement. Then once it is implemented the minimum fare for both LRT 1 and LRT 2 will increase to 14 pesos from 12 pesos, while the maximum fare for LRT 1 will increase to 35 pesos from 29 pesos and 33 pesos from 28 pesos for LRT 2. These fare prices will be applicable for those who use Beep cards and for those who use single journey tickets the minimum fare will remain at 15 pesos for both LRT 1 and 2, then the maximum fare will increase to 35 pesos from 30 pesos.
