Gunfire exchange between Government Forces and a Rebellious Group in Bula, Camarines Sur.

Encounter between Government forces and a rebellious group happened at Brgy. Caorasan Bula, Camarines Sur last March 30, 2023. 

On March 30th, Thursday, around 9:00 am residents from Brgy. Caorasan, Bula, Camarines Sur alerted the members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) about the suspicious presence of armed men and alleged members of Communist Terrorist Groups (CTG) in the vicinity of Caorasan Elementary School. To ensure the safety of the community, particularly the students and teachers in the said school, troops from the 49th infantry battalion responded to the citizens' request for help and had an exchange of gunfire with the rebellious group.

In the video posted online by Lani Landagan-Toledo, a teacher at Caorasan Elementary School, multiple sounds of gunshots and explosions are heard. Students and teachers can also be seen running into the classrooms in fear. No one was reported injured or killed among the government and civilians in the said encounter but two Anti-Personnel Mines (APMs), ammunition, magazines and propaganda materials were recovered at the scene by the authorities. PNP Bula also alerted their checkpoint of this incident as a precaution for what would occur next.
